Phil Burgess is Chief People & Operations Officer at C Space, a customer agency on a mission to make business more human by building customers into the way brands work. His focus is ensuring that C Space lives this mission internally, creating a great employee experience for its team of 350 staff across the USA, and enabling them to deliver great work to their clients. Prior to this, Phil was Joint Managing Director of C Space’s London office where he led a cultural transformation which led to a 30% increase in revenue growth, contributed to C Space twice winning Agency of the Year and taking home the MRS Best Place to Work Award in 2018.
He started his career in door-to-door sales, recruiting and building teams with Southwestern Advantage in America, before moving into the world of research and consultancy, selling and delivering solutions to clients including Starbucks, Jaguar Land Rover and Heinz. In 2019, he was named by Management Today as one of the UK’s Top 30 male ‘Agents of Change’ championing equality and inclusivity in business and in 2020 won ‘Learning Team of the Year’ at the global Learning Awards.
He’s now based in Boston in the USA, after relocating from London to the States with his wife and two small children. Outside work he’s likely to be found exploring New England and picking up litter (he and his family started a campaign called #just1bag2020 aiming to inspire 2020 people around the world to collect 20,000 bags of litter this year… so far they’re at 12,400+ bagflls and counting!).
