Richard has spent all his working life in media gradually progressing from operational roles to financial and corporate management. After a short period writing for the BBC and ITV he joined the Advertising Industry rising to the position of Managing Director of an operating division of one of the first publicly listed UK agencies whilst still in his
Richard started his own advertising agency in 1978 and took it to the top twenty in the UK by the mid-eighties. After selling to Saatchi & Saatchi he was appointed President of Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Worldwide where he was responsible for 63 companies with over five thousand staff in 27 countries. After his time at Saatchi & Saatchi Richard was co-founder and President of Adcom Investors, owner of a leading US advertising, new media and sports marketing group of companies. He negotiated the sale of Adcom five years later.
Richard has advised some of the World’s leading media companies on Mergers and Acquisitions and has been involved in the financing, management and expansion of new media and software companies in the US and the UK. He has worked with BBC World and television broadcasters in Russia and Japan, film and television production studios in the US and Mexico, advertising companies in Europe and has represented institutional investors as non-executive Chairman on a number of boards. Richard was also a founding shareholder and Chairman of a leading ad tech mobile marketing company publicly listed in Asia Pacific. He remains involved in the management of this business as a NED. Other roles are pro-bono and include chairing three UK performing arts charities.
